Spending The Festive Season with Patients as a Carer

December 8, 2023

Christmas is a special time of the year and as a Carer, it is the perfect opportunity to provide love and care for those who need it. Here at Platinum Care, we pride ourselves on having a wide team of dedicated home Carers who are here to assist and give company to the elderly community this Christmas season. In this blog, we will cover the details and information needed so that you and your patients can experience a very Merry Christmas this holiday season.

Create A Festive Atmosphere

What better way is there to get into the Christmas spirit than hanging up decorations and putting on all of the festive tunes? This is a perfect way to make the patient’s home cosier, create a festive atmosphere, and just all around make it a more enjoyable living space for both you and your care receiver. After you have made the patient’s living space festive, you can begin to discuss and think about different ways to make Christmas day as special as possible.

Gifts and Food

Christmas is not complete without a present or two and Christmas dinner. A way to make your patient’s day is by giving them a gift. It is a small gesture that will mean the world to them during the festive period, especially if they are not close to family or friends at the time. We recommend mind games and puzzles so that they are constantly exercising their intellect which helps reduce the chances of developing dementia. Even the little touches such as boxes of chocolates will make for a perfect gift. Everyone also deserves a warm and delicious Christmas meal. As a carer, you can prepare a Christmas dinner your patient can indulge in. At Platinum Care, one of the services we offer as part of our hourly care service is meal prep and grocery runs.

Caregiving is a rewarding job, especially around the Christmas period. It is a time to reflect on how hard you have worked to deliver the best possible care to your patients and the positive impact it has had on your patients.
