I’ve been working for Platinum Care since the Autumn of last year. I previously worked at another care agency for a few years and loved what I did. Although I had been getting more frustrated about the company I was working for, the final straw came last summer when they began to pay care by the minute. I couldn’t believe that with the shortage of staff in the industry and the low morale, the council had made this decision. Some of my colleagues had left, and I had planned to go into another industry, and by chance, I got talking to a carer that worked at Platinum care.
I thought that paying by the minute had become standard in Bury, but she told me that Platinum Care does not pay by the minute and that they were a great company to work for. She told me they had decided not to go for council work because of the minute pay. I asked her who I needed to speak to about a job. She gave me the number, and I phoned the next day.
I was soon working for Platinum Care, and I have to say I loved it. It’s not just about pay, but it’s good to know your employer treats you fair with wages. But even more, their focus is on the well-being of everyone involved with platinum. It works; the care we deliver not only helps clients maintain independence, but I have witnessed clients’ conditions improving. Is it perfect? Of course not, but the best thing about it is that I can influence the company’s culture. I’m listened to.
